  1. congratultions gareth and suzanne xxxx cant wait to see the pics

Congratulations to both of you. Please make the most of it, there really is no feeling like the birth of a first born. I have 4 children but that magical feeling isn't quite the same. She will be a beautiful baby, hope she looks like Suzanne. she is so pretty. This is the best news and good luck to them all

  2. Thanks Maggie

This is really lovely. I've got tears in my eyes reading these posts. Its such a joy to see people other than us saying lovely things about Gareth

You can actually post your reviews on the Adelphi Theatre site and having enjoyed it so much have done so. Hopefully he gets to see them and gets even more confident altho I must say Gareth was superb on Saturday so must have got over his nerves

  3. Hey to everyone

What do you think about Gareth's Drive Cover ???

When I listened it for the first time it nearly made me cry. It's really touching, and, in my view, the best cover I've ever heard (apart from Unchained Melody) .

What about you? Were you as touched as me when you listened to it?

    x

    Alicia

This has always been one of my favourite songs and I adore Gareth's version. I wish it would be released and publicised, it is beautifful

  4. I am really upset to hear of Nicola's sudden death , I knew her quite well , she was a lovely brave girl , who suffered much pain , but she was so cheerful and put up with what life had thrown at her , I'm really sad that she didn't get to meet Gareth , she was such an enormously good fan , but I'm glad Nicola did speak to Gareth over the phone .

Anita ( Pepper ) is upset , as Nicola was a very good friend to her late daughter Tracie .

My sympathy and thoughts go to Nichola's parents and family .

Oh God, how awful. Please pass on my condolences to her friends and family. I didn't even know she was ill. Gareth is missing an angel.

  5. I think Duncan James is the guest judge at the O2 tonight, so he'll more than likely give Gareth and Maria a pretty good score.

If we send in a few text votes for them, they may get the chance to skate to Bolero with a bit of luck.

Text Gareth to 87103 if anyone wants to vote.

I have always loved Claire Buckfields skating and agree that Gareth is always undermarked. Mind you Jason didn;t dare do it the first night at Sheffield, he had probabaly read that I was going to stick the skating boot where the sun shone if he did, and by God did I mean it. Sorry you didn't get to meet him he is gorgeous and a real gentleman. Me and my 18 year old got shy but I have a wonderful picture of him cuddling my 8 year old and she adores him. She is the one that cries when he doesn't win because in her eyes he can do no wrong. She is right of course!!!!!!!

  6. I went to see DOI this evening at Sheffield and it was fantastic. The arena was full and the show started at 0730 and finished at 1030. A man was on first to warm up the audience and he was very good at his job. There were no banners anywhere much to my disappointment.

Kyran Bracken was on first but unfortunately he had two falls. In fact one or two of them had stumbles but not Gareth he was brilliant and looked fantastic. They all do two performances, one in the first half and another in the second half. They are marked for the first one but not the second. For his first performance Gareth did the same one he did in the semi final on the TV and he looked great he wore a silver top and white trousers. The judges marked him 25 and he came fifth in the leader board. ( he also came fifth in the line up for the bolero, he was beaten by Chris, Suzanne, Claire and Bonni Langford with Suzanne and Chris performing Bolero with Suzanne going on to win).

His performance in the second half was the one in which Maria wore the red cat suit and Gareth the red T shirt. That was also very good. The striped trousers were also seen in one where all the artists perform together. Torville and Dean performed about three times and also did the flying performance. There were also performances by professional skaters which were brilliant.

The judges were the same with the exception of Ruthie and, of course, Jason got several boos.

Near the end the skaters shake hands with some of the audience.

I think they have worked quite hard this weekend with a performance Friday night, two today and another two tomorrow. I think some were quite tired and the judges mentioned that they had still to get used to dancing on a larger rink than they are used to.

However, it was still great and those of you who are going to later shows are in for a real treat.

I hope I have given you some idea of how the show went, but I am also tired and going to my bed.

    Night, night.

    Lilian

We went on Friday night and it was brilliant although be prepared to be ripped off, drinks etc. You don;t really need a programme to vote because unless you are at the front you won;t be noticed. Gareth was brilliant and deservedley came 4th with the judges altho in my eyes he was better than Kyran, who was third. Chris won probabaly deservedly and I think the panel would have been lynched if he hadn't. My fav was Claire who was magical and undermarked. There were no banners but we were in the Gods and so my little one found it a bit tricky to see. We loved the show and the highlights were Fred and Mel and Jayne and Chris flying. I am boring but was waiting all the time to see Gareth and would love to see him get a chanced to dance to Bolero. I know a lot of people near us were not going to vote because they felt it should be free. I must admit that show has had enough of my hard earned but did vote once for the man even though from the amount of Chris fans I guessed he didn#t have a chance. Jason was bloody nice to him and gave him a 5 for living on a prayer which makes me think he must have read this site and been worried about the skate going up his nether regions. Take care and have fun, apparently the first night is where the DVD to be released next Xmas was filmed so you will get chance to see it if you live far away and if you are going you are in for a treat and make a banner.

  7. I am so proud of Gareth and what he has achieved in this show.

Skating first was what I was dreading and then being put in fourth position by the judges was totally unfair. Zaraah's mark was far too high - her performance was decidedly shaky in places - and Gareth was undermarked. If he had been in third place I think that he would have avoided the skate-off altogether and that it would have been between Suzanne and Zaraah with Suzanne going through.

I agree with Snowdrop that the judges didn't want Gareth in the final - I thought that at least Karen and Nicky would save him. With his public support and the final being decided by the public vote alone, I am sure that he and Chris would have been the final two. I think that Gareth would have performed Bolero better than Chris, although I still think Chris would have won, as he has the most public support (various polls have suggested this) - but perhaps Gareth had a slight chance. Now, of course, Bolero will be performed by a boy and a girl and, although Suzanne will be much better, Chris will win as I don't think that Suzanne is gaining anywhere near as many votes as Chris (or Gareth). I really think that the result is obvious now and that Gareth being there would have made it a competition.

Anyway, sorry for going on a bit - I really needed to get that off my chest. I'm sure that the public vote will be down next week - I, for one, won't be voting as I don't think that Suzanne has any chance of winning and I wouldn't vote for either of the others.

I have loved watching Gareth's journey over the last few weeks. Don't forget that he will be on This Morning tomorrow and probably GMTV and also on DOI next week as all the skaters return for the final show.

    Linda

Agree totally. I am really gutted that it was down to the judges and not the public vote. How do I contact the Broadcasting watchdog. Many thanks

  8. Thanks Khelda and Floz :D

I thought he did SO well again - and delighted that they spoke to Robin about his performance for once. SUCH a shame about the missed lift - he could clearly have got a couple more fives if it hadn't been for that. It looked to me as if Maria couldn't get into position in time. So we'll blame her

    This week's track:

<img height="15" width="61" alt="Electric Light Orchestra (Elo) - All Over the World - The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra - Sweet Talkin' Woman" src="http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/images/badgeitunes61x15dark.gif"></img>

I take it all back Chris was really good, still think he has an advantage tho. Suzanne's marks should be interesting following that :hyper:

  9. I thought he was really good but feel the next 2 will be marked super well again. I am getting a little bit fed up of the fact that it is easier for Suzanne as a trained dancer to perform well and she really is being lifted all over the place. As for Chris I love him but having watched young ice hockey players on Friday he has a massive advantage. The are so fast, spin so well and never ever seem to fall. I don;t want to be negative or too much of a Gareth fan that I appear blinded but I really didn't think either Suzanne or Chris performed that well last week and have been agreeing with Nicky because Ice Dancing should not be about spectacular lifts that is figure pairs.

  10. On the ITV website they have a new photo up from last night, Gareth in his red top, and they have this write up next to it.

    'Gareth Skates'

Goodbye Mr negative, hello "Gareth Skates!"

Yes, pop hunk Gareth took Jason's jibes about his lack of self-confident to heart, and came back a new man this week.

And there was pressure from the audience, as Maria's former partner Duncan James clapped along to the Otis Reading track from the stands.

    You go boy!

I wonder if the nick name will stick for the rest of the show (or how long he will be in it, lol)

I missed the second show but even tho I was out was phoning home for the results. Gareth was so very very funny and if you can make em laugh you are a winner. The guy is proving to others what we have always known. I am so proud for all of us, it feels like one of my kids performing but eh I'm sad

  11. This is a nice report on The Bradford T & A

Pop star Gareth to wed dancer

    By Ben Barnett

Bradford pop star Gareth Gates has revealed he is to marry his long-term girlfriend.

The 23-year-old, who grew up in East Bowling, popped the question to dancer Suzanne Mole on New Year's Eve.

Gareth, who has been dating Suzanne, 32, for five years, said: "After a great Christmas, I proposed to Suzanne on New Year's Eve and she said yes.

"We are both extremely happy and look forward to planning our wedding and life together."

The announcement completed a great year for the singer who made a return to the city in June to plug his third album, Pictures Of The Other Side, which brought to an end a three-year musical void. Hundreds of die-hard fans queued for hours in the rain to meet their idol at the HMV store in Broadway.

Gareth met Suzanne, who hails from Newcastle, at the Record of the Year awards in 2002, and they live together in London. Gareth denied newspaper rumours in 2004 which suggested he was to marry Suzanne later that year. His speech therapist was said to have been chosen as his best man.

When asked about marriage in April last year, Gareth said: "The way I have been brought up, that's what it's about for me.

"It doesn't suit everybody, but for me life is about marriage, lots of children, a massive house. If that's what my life is like, I will be happy."

Gareth's musical development began as a choirboy at Bradford Cathedral where, aged 11, he was head chorister.

He sang solo for the Queen when she visited in the city in 1997, five years before taking the stage on Pop Idol.

With a Grade VIII in piano, classical guitar and singing, and a place at the Royal Northern College of Music under his belt, he battled his stammer to finish a close runner-up to Will Young.

His debut single, a cover of Unchained Melody, went into the UK charts at number one. At the height of his popularity Gareth returned to Bradford to switch on the Christmas lights four years in a row.

But his private life hit the headlines when glamour girl Jordan revealed they had a three-month affair. And he was dropped by his record label in 2004 after sales of his second album struggled.

But Gareth bounced back and can now boast a career which includes four number one hits and record sales totalling 3.5 million worldwide.

He has retained his links with Bradford as a member of the congregation at the Abundant Life Centre and a fan of the Bradford Bulls. Gareth is now tipped to appear on the forthcoming series of ITV's Dancing On Ice.

What a brilliant article and brilliant news for gareth and suzanne. I wish them both every happiness and lots of cute kids. How can they fail. The could be the new Osmonds. Getting a bit daft now, but at this time of year we need all the good news we can get. Happy New Year everyone.

  12. Manic Kangaroo (James) on Haven has found a download of Christmas to Remember. He's given it to me as a Christmas present for all Gareth fans

Edit: I've removed this link after Snowdrop's very welcome warning. If anyone wishes to download it please PM me and I'll send it to you.

    Hi Val,

I am a bit thick so would this count as a PM. Let me know. Many thanks

  13. Welcome to the site Elino. Here are the lyrics

    CAN’T BELIEVE ITS OVER

So here I am, head in hands

    Now you’re gone I don’t understand

You said your piece walked out the door

Said you couldn’t stand one second more

And I can’t believe its over

    I’ve never been so high

And I can’t believe its over

    I’ll forever wonder why

And the stars they’re so cruel

Made me look like a fool

They’re just watching me, watching you

And finally you looked at me

Said you’re all out of sympathy

You tried your best, got so far

But in the end, oh, you’d gone too far

And I can’t believe its over

    I’ve never been so high

And I can’t believe its over

    I’ll forever wonder why

And the stars they’re so cruel

Made me look like a fool

They’re just watching me, watching you.

    Look up to the stars,

    Look up to the stars

    Look up to the stars,

    Look up to the stars

    We’ll get to the stars

    Look up to the stars,

    Look up to the stars

    Look up to the stars,

    Look up to the stars

And the stars they’re so cruel

Made me look like a fool

They’re just watching me, watching you

They’re just watching me, watching you

A beautiful song from someone with a beautiful heart. I feel stupid admitting how Gareth has kept me going these last 6 months but hopefully I have turned a corner now and Angel on My Shoulder is my recovery song. I bought my parents it for their Golden Wedding because they are mine.

  14. That's such a relief. I received my 2 cd's today from Woolies (the album). It's really good, one is for my mum and dad as it is their 50th wedding anniversary next weekend, they are angles on my shoulder, so I thought it was apt as my mum loves Gareth. I have downloaded AOMS from Tesco and received the single (unsigned) from HMV, would love Drive but can't seem to download from itunes and my daughters Ipod is missing. Can I buy it anywhere else it is one of my favourite songs ever. Have been playing That's When you Know by Gareth, it touchs me, saddo that I am

  15. Wow! How brilliant was that? Gareth came over as the lovable, charming and witty guy that we all know that he is. Ricky Gervais was loving it when Gareth was putting Jonathan in his place.

Must say that Gareth was looking fantastic as well.

I've always felt proud of him and what he has achieved, but that was the icing on the cake of an amazing week. Well done, Gareth - you have fulfilled one of your personal goals and should be brimming with pride.

    Love Linda

Gareth was wonderful and how nice for people to be able to see his personality at last. We are all so proud in our house. Will it be repeated as my little one was asleep and she adores him?
