Val4Gareth
more lovely pics and reports! Thanks girls :-)Does anyone know if there's any video footage from inside the theatre taken Saturday night?..... Wonder if anyone managed to a bit of sneaky filming - would love to even see a little snippet I did think about it Petra, but in the end I didn't have the nerve. One of the girls sat next to me took one picture, but the usherette in the wings saw her and stood waiting for her to take another and I think she would then have come over and stopped her. That's really what stopped me from trying to record Gareth singing Any Dream Will Do with the narrator as that's the song we've not seen him singing on video and was the one I particularly wanted to have to keep. Would love to know if anyone actually did record anything.
eternal
Does anyone know if there's any video footage from inside the theatre taken Saturday night?..... Wonder if anyone managed to a bit of sneaky filming - would love to even see a little snippet Can't believe I am reading this because it is similar to what I have just posted on ggates. I felt quite selfishly naughty for wishing someone had (although I would honestly have been mortified if they had been escorted out of the theatre) but I so wish someone had. It was interesting on our way into the theatre the blonde guy on the door (front of house) (who has I feel, always shown so much patience/respect for everyone ruffling through handbags etc to find tickets) made a remark with a cheeky smile, reminding us that no photos were to be taken even though it was the last performance. It seems he may have encountered similar before!! Thanks for everyone's great reports and photos. I have put mine on ggates Somewhere here Hazzy it was lovely to meet you as it was lovely to meet people I had not met before. I am usually the one standing at the back!! How on earth did you remember all those changes? Glad you did. It sure helps paints the picture.

eternal
Eternal, it would really be nice if you could copy and paste your report on these boards too. I certainly will do, but don't want everyone to be bored by re-reading etc. Here goes: Afternoon It was an idyllic day with the sun shining brilliantly, bringing out throngs of people in a very busy London. We couldn't have asked for better conditions and we couldn't have asked for better performances from Gareth and the cast. Two unexpectedly different performances, not quite how I envisaged they would happen. I had imagined the afternoon performance to be somewhat lighthearted, perhaps continuing into the evening's performance, but it didn't happen that way. I would think the cast knew of Tim Rice and any dignatories being in the audience for the evening so this performance reverted back to it's professionalism, after the bits of frivolty during the afternoon. Hazzy on GPG has listed some of the 'send ups' the cast did HERE (I don't know how she rembered them)! The afternoon's hilarity was fuelled by the audience's reception. The more we laughed the more they made us laugh. However it did at all times still remain very professional, depicted in Gareth, who being left with just one sock on, chosing his moment to discretely remove it, ready for his next move. The whole show demonstrated just how much the cast were just loving it. One unexpected event of the afternoon was, whilst we thought we may just meander past the stage door after the show (as you do) we actually exited the theatre through the stage door (this is where I add that this is the way we were definitely shown)! There were the crowds expecting Gareth and out walked Val, Yvonne, Doris and myself, together with a few more from our row. Never have you seen such dissapointment in a crowd!! It was great to see so many people just waiting for a glimpse of Gareth. The people drinking outside the bars adding to the whole mayhem. The fab photos from Doris and Val capture the whole scene at the stage door. Evening: The evening performance went to another level. The excitement began as the orchestra began then run through of the songs. The audience began clapping straight away and that set the scene for the evening. When Jenna the narrator appeared, she received a huge applause but when Gareth appeared in that white costume, behind the screen, the whole audience erupted. Well all except the girl next to Val, who would you believe, was the worse for wear(and it was only 7.30pm)!! Each and every member of the cast, in turn, received a united applause from the audience, as they made their entrance. The atmosphere was one that I had not experienced before-Pure electric. With the show drawing to a close and the megamix getting everyone on their feet, I was dreading the final appearance of Gareth expecting to feel really sad but surprisingly I didn't. Whilst he appeared very composed I am sure I saw him wipe away a tear but he somehow looked so happy and so content that he had given of his best, that any sadness didn't enter the equation. By the way if anyone comes across my family and friends. I haven't yet mentioned I went to both performances!! So far I haven't been asked how I spent the afternoon, so there hasn't been the occasion to tell them
Khelda
Thanks so much Eternal, its lovely having the reports all together, also not everyone is a member on the OS or can get on there. Loved reading it all, sounds like it was a great day.
Val4Gareth
Well all except the girl next to Val, who would you believe, was the worse for wear(and it was only 7.30pm)!! The girl sat next to me was a total disgrace. She was the worse for wear before the show even started and didn't stop drinking right the way through. I'm not one to not want youngsters to have a good time, but that was not the right place for the way she behaved. I think she must have been the only person in the whole theatre who was not on their feet at the end and she spent a good proportion of the show with her head in her lap. I really don't know why she went at all. Even her friends looked embarrassed for her. When Jenna the narrator appeared, she received a huge applause but when Gareth appeared in that white costume, behind the screen, the whole audience erupted. Gareth's ovation started even before anyone could see him. As soon as his outline began to appear the crowd went wild. Always before the applause didn't start until he was completely visible. I shall never forget the feeling I had inside at that moment as long as I live and for Gareth it must have been so satisfying of a job so well done. eternal
This isn't really news but I thought I would just pop it in this thread. I found at the back of a shelf an old Joseph CD (with Jason Donovan). I think it must have been the same issue they were selling at the theatre. On playing it, yes Jason Donovan's voice is not a patch on Gareth's but for the moment, with every tune I am transported back to the Adelphi with the cast of Joseph. If anyone is debating if to buy it, give it a go, it really helps relive the moment.
Guest
Nice idea Chris. I have my husband to keep the memories alive. He can't stop singing and whistling the songs since we've been. He's even singing them at work.
