Snowdrop
Nice to see they are on the ball as usual! The BBC posted this weeks ago, as was the closing date to apply for tickets. Hopefully some fans got a set. I'm really looking forward to it, and it's good to have it confirmed that they will be singing music from Les Miserables. Snowdrop
Has anyone else noticed it's being conducted by Mike Dixon? If I remember correctly, he was the MD on Pop Idol, so it will be lovely for Gareth to catch up. He was also conducting on last week's Over the Rainbow, standing in for someone stuck because of the volcano!

Snowdrop
Full article about the show: Gates to star in Radio 2 Les Miserables celebration Published Friday 7 May 2010 at 11:24 by Matthew Hemley Gareth Gates is to star in a special BBC Radio 2 Friday Night is Music Night paying homage to musical theatre, which will include a segment celebrating the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables. Gates, currently playing Marius in the touring production of Les Miserables, will be joined by Jacinta Whyte and Shona Lindsay at the concert, which will be broadcast live on May 21 from the Mermaid Theatre in London. His co-star in the Les Miserables tour, John Owen-Jones, who plays Jean Valjean, will also sing at the event, which is expected to feature an interview with the show’s lyricist, Alain Boublil. The concert’s producer is Jodie Keane, who said the first half of the live show would feature music from an array of musicals, including Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jesus Christ Superstar and Funny Girl. As part of this Gates will sing numbers from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, in which he played the title role in the West End production in 2009. Keane said the second half of the show would largely be devoted to Les Miserables, with around seven numbers performed from the musical. A bit more about the others taking part. Jacinta Whyte has played Eponine in the West End and in a previous UK tour and works regularly on this radio show - biog here. Shona Lindsay has done a lot of tv, radio and theatre work too - biog here. Jodie Keane is a radio producer for Radio 2, and also produces the Michael Ball radio show on Sundays. Snowdrop
John has said that he'll be singing a couple of songs from his album, and I think there are duets on there, so maybe one of those. Or it could be something from one of the other musicals mentioned.
