TICKETS ON SALE 9AM - THURSDAY 6TH OCTOBER - http://bit.ly/pGhH3o

Gareth Gates rose to fame in the ITV talent show Pop Idol, the precursor to X-Factor. Out of the hundreds of thousands who competed it came to a showdown between Gareth Gates and Will Young. History spoke and Will Young took the crown, but that didn’t stop Gates being given a record deal with Sony and then going on to sell over 3.5million records.

8 Top 10 hits... followed, Smash Hits declared 7th October as International Gareth Gates Day and fans queued for hours to get tickets for his arena tour. In 2003 he became the face of Comic Relief with charity single ‘Spirit In The Sky’ with The Kumars and from then onwards was destined to be a household name.

In 2006 he was dropped by Sony BMG and signed with UMTV (Universal Records). An album was released named ‘changes’ making the charts again at number 23 with the single peaking at 14. Shortly after this record he was offered work in musical theatre where Gareth found a new calling.

His first performance was in "A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe", a charity fundraiser to celebrate 25 years of musical theatre composers George Stiles & Anthony Drewe. After this his theatre career went from strength to strength and from playing the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre, London he ended up with the role of Marius in a world tour of Les Misérables. There was a live cast recording of the production. This double album was released in the UK as Les Misérables Live.

Reality TV has produced many artists with a short life span, but Gareth is still performing and entertaining packed theatre halls. This show at Mr Kyps will be a rare opportunity to see Gareth Gates on stage performing all his hits accompanied by his full live band!

and apparently confirmed by the same person

Very good. This is the info bit of the Facebook page of the person who posted the event. http://www.facebook....0868445?sk=info

This is the listing on the website they mention: http://www.mrkyps.ne....aspx?event=272

It's a bit of an odd biography to sell a show with Gareth and his band, but I suppose we're used to that. I'm surprised they didn't mention the choristor bit!

I thought that when I first saw it Snowdrop, but when I looked at the trains its three changes and I'd have to go through Southampton to get there. Seems a roundabout way to me. I wish i had the confidence to drive myself it wouldn't take anywhere near as long. Have to give it some thought.

How far would it be for you Khelda?

I agree Snowdrop, that is a live venue, and if they want to sell Gareth imo they should just try to sell him and his band without all the pop idol stuff. I wonder if he will showcase some of the new music? Or do you think it will be the kind of set list he has been singing lately with a few of his own thrown in?

Just phoned my daughter and asked if she would go with me, she says she goes to the venue lots,

she is into rock music, but she said it be ok. So it looks like I might be going.

I am rather surprised they have the kiddies on before??

Who are they aming at? Saying that I think that boy band were in Bath as well and had girlies screeming. But that was afternoon, not evening.

I better wait to hear the time Gareth is suppose to be on stage, not to go too early.

They got that wrong a bit, I would have thought Ali would give them correct details for their write up?

Very pleased for you Khelda. I'm sure your Daugher will love it if Gareth turns on some of his rock stuff.

Oh right, got that wrong Heather. Mind Poole is not far from London I suppose.

I think if he would do his new music they would not say Gareth and his band, they probably would say the new band name. I think its a gig like he done through the summer. :)

Are you sure it's 12am? The original Facebook thing says until 11, and that's the usual time that bands finish at most venues. I expect the bar will be open until 12, but if it's just Gareth you want to see, and it's the finish time that's bothering you, it might be worth investigating. :D

Just talked to the guy at the venue, and he advised to buy tickets online and not at the door because the venue holds only 300 people and he thinks the tickets will go.

I asked about the venue, its a big room with stage at one end and the bar at the other end.The people just stand where they want.

Had a long chat with him, and they never had artists like Gareth on, and I told him, he will be impressed with Gareth live performance. :)

He also told me they will put a big advert in the local paper.
