Digital Spy claim Gareth gave away a little insight today at the DOI press launch, into what may be happening in The Big Reunion shows as far as 5th Story are concerned http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s234/the-big-reunion/news/a541139/gareth-gates-on-big-reunion-supergroup-well-sing-each-others-songs.html?utm_source=twt&utm_medium=snets&utm_campaign=twitter Gareth Gates on Big Reunion supergroup: 'We'll sing each other's songs' By Catriona Wightman Thursday, Jan 2 2014, 14:24 GMT Gareth Gates has confirmed that The Big Reunion's new supergroup 5th Story will be performing each other's big hits. Gates is forming the new band with Another Level's Dane Bowers, Kavana, Blazing Squad's Kenzie and Adam Rickitt for ITV2's hit show. © PA Images / Yui Mok/PA Archive Gareth Gates will join Dane Bowers, Kavana, Kenzie and Adam Rickitt in Big Reunion supergroup 5th Story Speaking to Digital Spy at the Dancing on Ice launch today, Gates explained that one song from each act will be performed by the supergroup. "We're all going to be singing - as a band - one of our hits, which is great," he said. "The other bands that are involved [Eternal, Girl Thing, 3T, A1 and Damage] have maybe had sort of two hits each, and then the rest of their songs will be known, but are not as big. "So for us to have five songs that have been number one or massive hits in the chart is a big, big thing. We're all really excited about it." © ITV Gareth Gates will also return to Dancing on Ice for its All-Stars series - which begins on Sunday Gates - who said his 5th Story bandmates are supporting him on Dancing on Ice - added: "We started filming earlier than everybody else, simply because we've never worked together before. It's exciting." However, Gates - whose hits include 'Unchained Melody' and 'Stupid Mistake' - refused to reveal which of his tracks will be given the 5th Story treatment. "We aren't allowed to say yet," he said. "Sorry! You'll have to wait and see." The Big Reunion's second series will air on ITV2 later this year, while Dancing on Ice returns for its final series on Sunday at 6.15pm on ITV.

  12. That's the concern I have too Laura. However having said that, it may work in Gareth's favour if he stands out from the rest of them in the shows, which in my opinion, he obviously will.
  13. They have an article in the T&A with a lovely picture. http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/10902195.Bradford_star_Gareth_Gates_makes_return_to_his_pop_roots/ Bradford star Gareth Gates makes return to his pop roots8:00am Saturday 28th December 2013 in News Singing star Gareth Gates is joining a new ‘supergroup’ Gareth Gates will be returning to his pop roots in 2014 for TV’s The Big Reunion. The Bradford singer, who shot to fame as the runner-up on Pop Idol in 2002, will be one fifth of a new ‘supergroup’ comprised largely of former members of nineties boy bands. Called 5th Story, the group will appear on the new series of ITV2 show The Big Reunion. The first series brought back acts such as Atomic Kitten, B*Witched and 5ive for an arena tour, and the follow-up will reunite the likes of Eternal, A1 and Damage. In 5th Story, Gareth will team up with Adam Rickitt, who played a teenage Nick Tilsley in Coronation Street before carving a pop career; Dane Bowers from Another Level; solo singer Anthony Kavana and Kenzie from urban pop combo Blazin’ Squad. Originally from East Bowling, Gareth went to Dixons City Academy and was a choirboy at Bradford Cathedral. After Pop Idol, in which he lost out in the final to Will Young, he enjoyed a successful pop career; going on to sell more than three million singles in the UK. Over recent years Gareth has moved into musical theatre, starring in such shows as Les Miserables, Legally Blonde, Momentous Musicals and a concert version of Boogie Nights which came to St George’s Hall in Bradford this year. He played an acoustic set at Bingley Arts Centre in the summer, and appeared at Bradford venue Skybar. Gareth, who runs Bradford performing arts school the Gates&Wilkes Academy with musical theatre star Jonathan Wilkes, will be appearing on Dancing On Ice’s all-star series in January.
  14. That's what I took that tweet to mean Khelda. Some lovely tweets to him there. Thanks for bringing them on here.
  15. Holy Moly have published an article about the show which I won't give them the satisfaction of repeating. The only thing worth saying is that they seem to think the show starts on 31st January. Not that you can be sure they've got that right. Most of what they print is total rubbish.
  16. I agree with you Gazman. Gareth is one of the nicest people anyone could wish to meet and it will be hard for the editors to find anything negative about him apart from one stupid mistake (no pun) he made when he was 17. He's always tried to keep his private life to himself as much as he has been allowed to by the media, whilst remaining friendly and approachable to his fans. My only worry is that the bad things which will obviously be included of others in the show may make some members of the public try to tar him with the same brush.
  17. Just got home from my Christmas away to this news. Must say I would never have guessed this in a month of Sundays. Whilst it would not have been my personal choice for Gareth, I'm sure he and his management know what they're doing and it could be just the right thing to raise Gareth's profile ready to release his own new music later in 2014. Not too sure how the dynamics of the new group will work, but I really hope that Gareth will get the lead role regards the music as I don't rate the voices of any of the others much. I do think this along with Gareth appearing on DOI will be the best way he can up his profile before releasing his own music which we all know is his main aim. If he comes up with some good new songs he's written himself (which I see he's said he's done on Twitter) to perform on the Reunions show people will be keener to check out his album later in the year. Lets be realistic about things, these kind of shows are practically the only way for artists to get themselves seen these days and they usually do the people on them good, if they have the talent, which we all know Gareth has in spades. What happens after the show will be up to Gareth to make the most of and I'm sure that's his and his managements thinking. I hope it works out well for him and us for the future.

  24. This is a lovely review from Herts Advertiser http://www.hertsad.co.uk/what-s-on/theatre/cinderella_a_triumph_at_alban_arena_1_3106716 It was a dazzling night of pumpkins, ponies and pop stars for the Alban Arena’s polished production of Cinderella. We were promised “our best panto ever” and yes, they have delivered. From the moment the ushers started dancing in the aisles the show had the sell-out audience laughing and joining in. Each year the talented Evolution team mix up the panto formula, adapting the classic stories to make the most of their stars. With former chorister, Pop Idol finalist, singer of five number 1 singles and star of many West End musicals Gareth Gates as Prince Charming, we were treated to amazing songs this year. Gareth delivered three knock-out numbers and his wonderful singing and effortless stage presence is worth the ticket price alone. The servant Dandini who switches place with Prince Charming was played by CBeebies favourite Andy Day. The younger children in the audience loved him and found him a calm, funny presence in the very lively show. Gareth and Andy together were a lovely combination and had an easy, very watchable camaraderie. Cinderella was played by Jemma Carlisle, returning to St Albans after her success last year as the leading lady. Although still very young her fabulous voice and confident stage presence means that she more than holds her own in the strong cast. Laura Jane Matthewson played a young, funky Fairy Godmother with some very funny lines. A graduate of The Royal Academy of Music, she has performed with Elton John – we get all the talent in St Albans! This production of Cinderella has something for everyone in the family. The music, including songs adapted from Hairspray and One Direction, meant that people of every generation were humming along at some point. The dancers of all ages are very slick, and I thought the Strictly Come Dancing version of the Palace Ball was such a clever idea and a chance to showcase the talented team. It is lovely to see our young local talent chosen to play the young villagers – great smiles everyone. And of course, as we have come to expect from the St Albans pantomime, the comedy elements were terrific. Local favourite Bob Golding was in his element as Buttons. Cheeky, silly and at times very rude, Bob has huge appeal and oodles of talent. Our 11 year old was delighted to see Ian Kirkby as Baron Hardup as she loves the BBC show The Slammer that he appears in. Ian is pretty horrible in that, but was silly and charming in panto, with some interesting dance moves. The Ugly Sisters played by returning favourite Sam Rabone and Gareth’s best friend Matthew Daines were fabulous. Playing the Ugly Sisters is an art form and these two actors are at the top of their game. I will just warn any Dads sitting in the front row – you might be in for a tough time! The panto runs until January 5 this year and there is still some ticket availability. BECKY ALEXANDER
