  1. Thank you to Heather for texting me and letting me know Gareth wasin tonight's Halifax Courier.

I'm not able to scan my copy as I don't have a scanner but I have typed up what the piece said:-

Share the magic of Les Misérables

One of the biggest musicals of all time opens in Manchester next week with Bradford's Gareth Gates, who found fame in TV reality show Pop Idol, in a starring role.

Les Misérables will be staged at the The Lowry, Salford Quays, from Tuesday until Saturday August 21.

Lowry spokeswomen Marie-Claire Daly says: "It's the first time producer Cameron Mackintosh has had a show at The Lowry and the exciting 25th anniversary production is on the public can't get enough of."

"Broadway and West End star John-Owen-Jones stars as Jean Valjean and Earl Carpenter, known from The Phantom and The Witches of Eastwick, stars as Javert.

"Gareth Gates, who plays the role of Marius, has played the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the West End's Adelphi Theatre and was a semi-finalist in Dancing on Ice 2008."

The magnificent new production includes spectacular new designs inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo and the world renowned score of Les Misérables including the song I Dreamed a Dream, which catapulted Susan Boyle in to international singing stardom.

Les Misérables originally opened in London at the Barbican Theatre in October 1985 and moved to its current home at the Queen's Theatre in April 2004 where it continues to play to packed houses.

When Les Misérables celebrated its 21st London birthday in October 2006, it became the world's longest running musical, surpassing the record previously held by Cats in London's West End.

Seen by over 56 million people worldwide in 42 countries and in 21 languages, Les Misérables is undisputedly one of the most popular musicals ever written, with new productions continually opening around the globe.

The production at The Lowry will be staged at 7:30pm every night (no show on Sunday August 15) with Saturday matinees at 2pm and further matinees on Thursday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 18. Box Office 0843 206005.

  2. I'm not very good at writing reviews.. and can't really add to what's all ready been written but wow! what 'A Grand Night Out', I had! Sitting near the back I thought I'd might not be able to see the staget that well but did I have a great view of the stage from my seat and I really did think the whole show was fantastic. I thought some of the younger performers had amazing voices.

I think the last time I saw Gareth perform was at Bradford's HMV when he did his album signing, so it had been a while since I'd seen him sing. I was so amazed; his voice is just fantastic and I loved his stage presence. I must admit I didn't know many of the songs by name but I think I have heard some of them before. It's difficult to choose a favourite song of the night, that Gareth sang. Suddenly Seymour and Tonight are the two songs that were still playing in my mind, though I did really enjoy all of Gareth's songs. It was also really lovely getting to meet Gareth at the stagedoor, after the show.

I have had such a time meeting up with Doris, Katica and some of the other member of the boards. Thank you so much to Doris for meeting me at Manchester and travelling with me to Wolverhampton. I am so glad that I did decide to go and see the show, as it was a brilliant evening and I have memories that I'll treasure forever!

    :blush::D

  3. Yep all sort thank you Eternal. I'm all booked up (hotel and travel) and ready to go. I keep checking everyday to make sure that my tickets are all in the safe place I put them and really looking forward to seeing Gareth perform again. ~Still nervous about the travelling but really excited too :D

  4. Hi.

I've heard that Gareth is doing this show in Wolverhampton and I'd love to go as I assume its a one off special show??. I've checked the theatre site and seen that theres tickets available and the hotel next door to the theatre seems pretty reasonable, however I'm not very confident and silly as it sounds I'm a little nervous and anxious about travelling that far from home especially on my own, so I'm still pondering over the idea of going.

I've asked my friends and family members who unfortunately unable to come with me, so I was just wondering if I could please ask who was going to the show; I was wondering if I maybe knew some familiar names that was going it might help me with my decision of whether to go or not. I feel really silly about thinking about it so much but as I say I'm not very confident about travelling to places far from home on my own.

I'm really sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place; I've not posted on the boards for a while.

    Thanks

    Katie x

  5. Just received this via google alerts, another mention of Gareth and Les Mis on the Wales Online site. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/

    I like this:-

Another unknown quantity is the presence of Gareth Gates. “I definitely think people should give him more of a chance than they do,” says Owen-Jones

“He’s done things and performed in places that I’m in awe of, seriously. He has a great deal of experience. Yes, he came runner up in a TV talent show a few years ago but people tend to forget everything he has done since.

  6. I'm just browsing the net, to see if I can find any reviews or pics of Joseph and I've just come across this one here. I don't think it's of the final performance; I think the person went on the Friday but posted their blog on Sunday.

Wasn't sure if it's already been posted, so thought I should pop it in here with the other reviews.

  7. Nice to see Gareth going to see his old Pop idol friend, Zoe Birget in the show shes in.

Aww that's great that Gareth's going to see the show that Zoe's in. I would love to go see Priscilla Queen of the Desert too.

  8. I get the message when I've deleted my cookies. When I log in, I usually tick it so it remembers my log in details, but delete my cookies etc every so often, which then I have to input my username and password, again. - When I come to log in again after deleting my cookies, it is then that I get the message.

  9. I get the message when inputting my username etc, and it appears to have denied me but if I click as I were to make a post, it has me logged in although it's shown the forbidden message, if that makes sence. And I only get the message after I've deleted my cookies etc.

Sorry I'm not very good at explaining.

  10. I wasn't sure where to post, but I keep having problems logging in. On logging in I also get this Forbidden message:-

Although I'm logged onto the boards now, I just thought I'd let you know :)

  11. Can you tell me how I get this song as the ringtone on my mobile please?

I would love to change to this from Angel on My Shoulder.

Hi, I'm not very good at explaining instructions but to get Drive as ringtone.

I copied the Drive MP3 music file from my music folder on my computer.

Then I connected my mobile phone to my computer using my mobile phone usb lead.

My phone then appears in My computer as a driver (like where you would find your digital camera drivers)

I open the "phone" driver and locate my music folder on my phone.

Then Paste the copied mp3 onto my phone.

The Drive file is now on my mobile so I disconnected the phone from my computer.

Goto my music on my phone, locate Drive and select use it as ringtone and message tone.

    Hope this helps.

  12. I've also put the video on my myspace and bebo profiles and I also have it as a ringtone on my mobile too.

I'm not sure where else to promo, but don't want to mass promote and build up negativity for Gareth and fans; like you mentioned Eternal.

  13. However, I do think it would be a good idea to spread this link around the internet and to different radio stations, on the anniversary of it being added by Sugarboxgirl, 25th May 2007.

    Thats a great idea!

I've dont go on that many sites other than Gareth one's, Myspace and Facebook. But I'll try post the link about.

I have just posted a link to the video in Myspace Bulletin :)

Just emailed Jo Whiley - I'm not a Live Lounge listener but thought it wouldn't harm emailing, wasnt sure if they did requests either but I explained I thought that Gareth's version was really good and that it would be great to hear him sing it on her show. I also sent her a link to the to the video.
