  1. This is SO exciting! The only remotely possible thing I can find in the business for the day (click the House of Commons tab and then the Westminster Hall tab) is 'Support for Disabled People'. I've Googled the relevant MP and there's nothing to link him to stammering per se. Gareth could, of course, be speaking about anything in an unlisted meeting anywhere in the House.

I do so wish he wouldn't leave us hanging like this!

  2. So sorry too disappoint you all, but all my clips are rubbish, I'm afraid - all skippy and jumpy and entirely hopeless. I've no idea what's gone wrong as I used my camera as I always have in the past and they've always been fine, I can only guess that perhaps the card is corrupted. I will try again with them, just in case it's a passing issue, but don't hold your breath.

  3. Hello! Long time, no see! Just thought I'd report back re the concert tonight . . .

Gareth was, of course, amazing  - he got a fantastic reception and clearly had loads of fans in the audience. :jump: He did two mini-sets of two songs, one in each half. First half was Anyone of Us and Suspicious Minds and the second half was Angel on My Shoulder (dedicated to his Mum in the audience) and SITS dedicated to Missy - who loves it apparently and who was also in the audience along with Suzanne, his Dad, a couple of his sisters, another little girl and a young man.

He sang brilliantly, really got the crowd going and had by far the most charisma of anyone on stage in the whole show. He looked gorgeous as ever  and wore a lovely suit with collar and tie.

I've hopefully got audio of all four and will upload them tomorrow as my PC is playing up at the moment (it's taken me 40 minutes to post this!) and it all sounds a bit rubbish. It clearly needs rebooting and I'm too tired to do it right now and have to be up at 6, but I figure most of you will have gone to bed anyway!

I spoke to Suzanne and his Mum at the interval just to make sure that he was coming back on and they were delightful. They said he was really well and pleased to be doing the gig.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that he was fab.

    Night!

  4. Charlotte Church tweeted him to ask:

Why didn't you get back to BBC about doing the mentoring session!!!

    To which he replied:

Its the first I've heard of it!

    Gutted.

    And then she said:

Really??? Follow me, and i'll give you the details.

Unfortunately, around 5pm today all her Tweets seemed to mysteriously vanish :

My tweets all just cleared? WTF

so you won't be able to find them, but thankfully they had already come through on TweetDeck. :D As yet, he's not following her and won't now get that message I guess - I hope she gets in touch again.

Ooo! Had an idea - will re-tweet it to him :D

  5. Well honestly I could cry. I've sat here for three and a half hours waiting to record that and it's buffered and skipped all over the place. It was perfect for a good 30 minutes before they came on and that recording isn't worth listening to. Beyond disappointed.

Anyway - Gaz looked gorgeous as per - by far the best looking bloke on the stage  :D

I'm off to bed before I put my computer through the window.

    Night!

  6. Can't you have the sound for radio 2, but watch the performance.

'Fraid not - the computer programme can't pick from two different internet feeds. If they're broadcast at different times, then I can do them both - couldn't really care less about anything other than the Les Mis performance this evening.

  7. Hi Maggie, I will record the Video audio if you record radio 2.

Thanks, but if that happens, I can't watch it  I'll just have to try and work out a way of getting the audio off my hard drive recorder, because I really want to see the performance if at all possible.

  8. Maggie, How do you record on-line. Do I just need to put a DVD in and continue watching. I'm very green about all this.
Well, I don't know what systems you have, but I very much doubt you can do that. Generally, you need a programme of some description to capture the video.
Is the Anthony person the guy that used to tbe in the Nescafe adverts?

    Yes, and Buffy.

  9. Gutted that I don't seem to be able to recored the video and torn as to which audio to record - the sound's pretty poor on the live feed, but I really want to watch it, but I want the audio from R2 too! Aaargh.

Plus - someone needs to explain the concept of a microphone to this woman - she appears to be trying to 'project' with a bad throat, whilst fully miked up. Odd.

  10. I'm sure this link has been posted before, but it's worth a reminder to take a look at the reviews on Ticketmaster.

There's over 500 on there, so you can expect that they might not universally be what we'd all like to read  , but don't let that spoil it for you, any negative comments are overwhelmingly in the minority and usually written in a way that makes you think they had certain - shall we say - 'prejudices':D .

Here's a small selection of extracts taken off just the front page as it stands at the moment:

I hadn't realised that Gareth Gates was playing Marius and he was one of the best Marius's I have seen.
Didn't realise that Gareth Gates played Marius until I read the Local newspaper review today. Think it may have put me off if I'd have known beforehand that he was in it (not his greatest fan). However, he and the rest of the cast were fab.
Absolutely fantastic show, all cast were brilliant, particularly John Owen Jones and Gareth Gates who really moved us with their performances
the biggest supprise for me was the performance of gareth gates as marius now that was something i did not expect, brilliant voice, brilliant acting well done to you gareth the boy who has turned into a fantastic stage performer.
This production was incredible, with outstanding performances from John Owen-Jones, Gareth Gates amd Earl Carpenter.
  11. Thanks Martha and dorral for the update - good to know it all went relatively well despite the glitches. I have to say - I think I would have quite liked to see the sewer scenes without the effects - just to see how they did it. It's SO effective when it all works and they must have to move SO fast to make it look good.
