  8. It was Heather. A professional singer should know better than to do that. Wonder how he'd have felt if it was done to him.
  9. Free. The background chatter was caused by a very unprofessional J'ai McDowell messing around with a group of his fans right beside where Gareth was performing.
  10. Interview with Gareth in London Theatre News https://www.londontheatre1.com/index.php/96452/interview-gareth-gates-prince-snow-white/ Interview with Gareth Gates – Prince in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs October 1, 2014 With panto season fast approaching, Gareth Gates is preparing to play the Prince in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – but even as a seasoned actor and singer, every performance presents a fresh challenge for the former Pop Idol star. While singing is his first love, when it comes to delivering his lines, Gareth still has to find ways to control the stammer which has been a part of his life since childhood. Music became his saviour at the age of eight, when he took on the lead role in a school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and found that singing and performing gave him the confidence he lacked due to his speech problems. He went on to realise his dream when he was offered the role of Joseph in the West End. “For me, music is a release and a means of self expression,” says Gareth. “I love singing, but speech is more of an issue, I use breathing techniques to help me manage it. I’ve tried various things, but the only thing one seems to work is the McGuire programme. It can be isolating to have this problem, but through the programme, I’ve met other people who share my affliction.” The method developed by Dave McGuire, which featured in the Channel 4 documentary Stammer School, teaches ways to keep the problem under control, such as Costal breathing, a technique used by opera singers. Gareth is supported by a fellow member from the programme, Chris Cooksey, who acts as his speech coach, advising him when he needs to slow down or take a breath to stop him stumbling over his words. “When I’m rehearsing, it can be terrifying,” admits Gareth, “But when I actually go on stage, I get into character and I’m on a roll. I adopt a different persona. For Aladdin, I played him as a cheeky chappie, with my own Northern accent. In Snow White, I become a handsome prince, who speaks very well!” Stress can worsen Gareth’s speech problems, so it helps that panto is a more laid-back style of theatre with the chance to ad-lib if necessary. “Compared to serious West End shows, panto is nice and relaxed,” says Gareth, who spent 18 months in Les Miserables. “It’s an enjoyable thing to do, to get on stage and interact with the audience.” His five-year-old daughter Missy loves to watch him on stage and on one occasion during the traditional scene where the hero plays up to the audience by failing to spot the villain, a little voice piped up from the audience: “Daddy – he’s behind you!” “This is my fifth panto – it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it!” says Gareth. “Im looking forward to singing songs I really enjoy in this production of Snow White. Panto really gets you into the festive spirit. As a child I went every year, and now I love to be part of other people’s Christmas.” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, written by Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution, stars Gareth Gates as Prince Charming and Witney White as Snow White, with Quinn Patrick as Nurse Nellie and Siani Owen as Queen Morgiana. 11. Found a few pictures of Gareth from Oake Manor which I didn't realize I had,
  12. Its beautiful isn't it. I still love hearing Gareth sing that song. Had tears in my eyes when he sang it at Oake Manor.
  13. Livin on a Prayer from Friday. Uploaded by Oake Manor
  14. He wasn't on longer than Gareth Elaine. Gareth was on for about 1hr 20 mins and J'ai for about 50mins. Just got used to Gareth being on stage for nearly 2 hours I think. Why do you say its unusual for meet & greet after the show? It usually is aqfter he's finished performing. .
  15. I recorded Sentimental Yvonne, but this time its on my camera so I have to get someone to help me upload it to Youtube.
  16. That was filmed by a member of the staff at Oake Manor Heather. They recorded lots of songs so hopefully they'll upload more.
  17. Had another fantastic evening at Oake Manor. Was lovely meeting up with Yvonne and Linda. Thanks again Linda for driving us everywhere. Gareth didn't sing quite as many songs last night as the support act (J'ai McDowell) was on for almost an hour. He was OK but not my kind of voice. No different songs from other gigs and he only sang Free of his new songs. Still didn't do the high note in UM again, just held the mike out to the crowd. He said he's not allowed to try it again yet. He had a lovely bit of banter with Pete when one of his strings broke on his guitar. Had a nice chat with Gareth after the show, where the queue for meet and greet was huge again. He said he hopes to be back there again next year. Had Matt with him again. Such a lovely man and his partner is lovely too. Seems like Gareth and Matt headed off to Mambo's in Taunton after the gig.
  18. Thanks Heather. Just read that on Twitter. Sounds interesting again. Hopefully something new happening next year. (where's the new album)
  19. Thanks for the link Heather. That was a nice interview. Enjoyed reading it.
  20. Really looking forward to this on Friday. Its only a few weeks since seeing Gareth at Bishop's Cleeve, but it seems like an age.
  21. There's a review in the Gloucestershire Echo. I think this may be the reporter who was sat next to Linda http://www.gloucestershireecho.co.uk/Review-Gareth-Gates-Bishop-s-Cleeve-Tithe-Barn/story-22892573-detail/story.html Review: Gareth Gates, Bishop's Cleeve Tithe Barn By Gloucestershire Echo | Posted: September 08, 2014 By Helen Rawlings Gareth Gates Comments (0)The Tithe Barn in Bishops Cleeve has turned itself into a music venue with an excited crowd of predominantly females crammed into the main hall to see Gareth Gates. It has been 13 years since Gareth was on Pop Idol and just starting his dreams of stardom. As Gareth came onto the stage, the crowd went wild and he looked great, he had hardly aged at all, life was clearly treating him well. He greeted Bishop’s Cleeve with his cheeky smile and started to entertain us with his acoustic set. The stage was simple yet beautifully lit, just Gareth singing and his friend and co-writer Pete on the guitar. For the first half we were treated to some beautiful ballads with some beautiful new songs he had written himself about love lost. The audience couldn’t hide their excitement when he sang sclassic hits Anyone of Us and, of course, Unchained Melody. After a quick break Gareth and Pete came back to the stage with a more up tempo selection of songs – a fantastic version of Mr Brightside and getting everyone on their feet for Summer of ’69, Suspicious Minds and Don’t Stop Me Now. Gareth asked the crowd “Who is having fun this evening?” and by the happy looks, it looked like everyone was having a great time. The Tithe Barn was a surprising venue really worked. The intimate setting in this beautiful old building looked stunning. Gareth Gates proved he still has star quality and it was nice to see he was really enjoying what he does. Really nice mix of old classic covers and new self penned material. Charming guy, great singer and entertainer.
